Maria from Kyiv and Shay from the United States — a couple whose story began with a first video call and ended in a wedding across an ocean.
They were introduced in the summer of 2023. The matchmaker picked out Shay's application, and after the first video call it was clear there was chemistry between them. A conversation meant to last half an hour ran to two. After that they talked every day: first by message, then by video, sometimes for hours at a time.
A few months later Shay flew to Kyiv. Walks together, dinners, meeting Maria's friends — all of it confirmed what they both already knew. From then on they were never apart for long: every few weeks one of them flew to the other.
In 2024 the couple married and began their life together in Colorado.
