Ukraine → United States · married in February 2023
Yuliya from Kherson and Arnold from North Carolina. They married in February 2023. Their story began in the middle of the war and became the start of a new life for the whole family.
Until 2022 Yuliya worked in Kherson as an interior designer. She also wrote poetry and prose, and her books were published in Ukraine. When the war began she left for Canada. That was when Jaroslavna offered to introduce her to Arnold, a project manager at a large international company.
Arnold admits that at first he was sceptical about the idea:
“I had been looking for my other half for several years without success. The matchmaker persuaded me to try — she answered all my questions and dispelled all my fears. I filled in the application, chose several women, and got confirmation that Yuliya was interested too.”
The first meeting was a video call on Zoom:
“That online date went splendidly — both sides were delighted and carried on talking. A month later I met Yuliya in person, and we spent a month together getting to know each other.”
In February 2023 Yuliya and Arnold married.
“It was the best decision of my life. I am very happy with my decision and with my beautiful and beloved wife Yuliya,” Arnold says.
The family were living in North Carolina, and Yuliya's daughter had moved to America with them. Arnold says they all get on well.
