Natali and Glenn: a proposal on the evening she landed

Natali from Kharkiv and Glenn from Australia. Her road to him ran through Poland, Spain and five months of waiting for a visa — and ended with a proposal on the first evening they were together in Brisbane. She tells it herself, in the words she used at the time.

“I left Kharkiv to work in Poland before the war. I found the agency online and decided to try. I approached Jaroslavna in June 2022. They talked to me at length, explained what they do — and it cost nothing,” Natali says.

The waiting was not easy. Natali would remind them of herself from time to time, and the answer came back: this is not some online network where people pass the time, it is a serious agency, and she would have to wait a little. So she waited.

On 5 September 2022 they offered her an introduction to Glenn. By then Natali was working in Spain — but for a video call that made no difference.

“I liked Glenn from the description and I liked his photographs. The agency arranged a video call and helped with the translation — my English is not very good. There was an attraction between us straight away.”

A month later Glenn flew from Australia to Spain. They spent ten days together.

“I could not have imagined that men like this still exist. I liked Glenn from the first meeting, and it was mutual. While we were together in Spain he said I absolutely had to come to him in Australia, and he rang an agent about the visa right there.”

Natali waited five months for the visa. They talked every day the whole time.

“I got to Brisbane via Dubai. Glenn met me at the airport. For the first few minutes neither of us could let go or move from the spot. We stood there holding each other with tears of joy in our eyes.”

That same evening Glenn proposed.

“He gave me a ring — a very beautiful one. I asked for time to think. But I did not think for long, and I agreed to become the wife of this wonderful man.”

“I will be honest — when I came to the agency I was not expecting a miracle. It all happened unexpectedly. I could not even have imagined that at 48 this was possible.”

Natali and Glenn were happy together in Australia.
